Recently I’ve managed to take some time off work and venture to Paris with my lovely friend Julie. I had a great weekend away. Julie is a regular Paris visitor and she knows where to go, so when she asked me to go for a few days, I didn’t even hesitate as I knew It would be an amazing experience.
We arrived in Paris on friday evening. We were staying on the 18th, which is pretty much Montmartre, the excitement kicked in, we dropped our bags at the flat and went straight out exploring.
Julie Suggested that we head to Sacré-Cœur, which is The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris. Located at a high point of the city we could see the whole of Paris; it was magnificent.
As It starts to get dark, we decide to head to Oberkampf, where we had a lovely platter of french charcuterie, at the Oberkampf Metro Cafe. All of the sudden it felt like Paris, late open cafes, amazing food, some wine and the sounds of the accordion in the background.
After this we went along the Seine to a Nightclub Called Wanderlust for a bit of a boogie. Such fun.
The morning after we woke up craving breakfast and coffee, as it was nearby, we headed to Abbesses. A very traditional Parisienne strip of cafes and local shops, EVERYONE was stunning, even the waiters. Having fully woken up, the urge to shop kicked in; Julie remembered a vintage shop nearby called The Chine Machine. This was the one of the best shopping experiences if my life. Julie managed to buy a beautiful red leather jacket for €20 and I found an amazing polka dot (very in season) shirt for €7. It was so cheap I had to control myself to ensure I wouldn’t over spend.
In the Afternoon we got the tube to Jaures and went for a stroll along the Canal St Martin as its always a beautiful part of Paris. The weather was also lovely.
